Looks and operates very nice - only drawbacks are there is no backlight for reading in darken areas and it take forever to load data after you do a sync for new books, music or pictures. Once everything is loaded though, very easy to use and very portable.
I found the Sony to be quite useful in holding many books, especially while traveling. It's wonderful not to have to carry the actual paper copies, and there are many titles to choose from through electronic sources. The only drawback is that, while it has the capability to place a bookmark, it's not effective if there's a table of contents where you'd like to jump to a specific area or topic. This device is geared towards flat, continuous documents.
The Sony Reader PRS 505 has everything you want in a reader. The screen is not too small, the colors are perfect. You can zoom in and out if the lettering is too small. And the e-book comes with a beautiful binder that fits perfectly in any bag.I can recommend this reader to anyone who just wants to read e-books.If you want to edit texts - keep looking.
If you read couple books a week, then a electronic book is a must. Been told that you can but textbook on it. No more having books all over the place. Its easy to read, can make the words as large as you like. So easy to purchase book right at your computer, and your computer is a back up on keeping the books. Join the wave of the future.
so for its cost, I expect to be able to use it for years to come. I'm 30 and because I have no kids, I spend a lot of money on tech toys. Thankfully, with its sturdy aluminum housing and beautifully readable screen (and protected by the BookArmor), this seems very possible.Although PDFs are possible, I recommend sticking to more vanilla file formats like RTF and LRF. I'm not sure how the Sony Reader stacks up against my other electronics. it isn't used as often as my iPod and isn't as cheap as my DivX player. I've started with free books from Manybooks and Gutenberg Project. it hasn't replaced paper in my daily life - yet - but it has already eased my load on a long trip.
